STUDENT TESTIMONIALS:

THE REEL DEAL with Betty Jo Tucker:

"I just took a look at the first assignment! And let me just say WOW! I can tell this course is going to be a lot more incredible than I thought it would be! (and that's saying something!)

The first assignment looks/is amazing. Not only have you given the assignment, but you've given tons of background (yours and others) information to show what you mean by a movie philosophy, to illustrate what you want in the assignment.

I especially loved your review of Vanilla Sky. I didn't like that movie either and almost left the theatre half way through; I would of too, if I hadn't paid full price ($13.50 at the time) to see that lousy flick. LOL

You've given me food for thought. I've never thought of my movie critic philosophy; what I see/think when I watch movies, what draws me. I'm going to have to think about that before I write the assignment and perhaps read the assignment again.

Way to go, Betty Jo! I can't wait to get started!!!!!"

JOURNALING with Erica Miner
‘Erica Miner is a great instructor. She made the Journaling class very challenging, and coaxed a lot out of me as a writer.  I thoroughly enjoyed the one-on-one instruction and feel it was very beneficial to my writing.’

SHOW DON'T TELL with Rosanne Dowell

"Wow! Thank you, Roseanne. See why I'm in this class? I think I have trouble determining when is tell and when is show. Can't wait for next lesson!"

SHOW DON'T TELL with Rosanne Dowell

"When I registered for this class, I didn’t know what to expect. I did have high hopes but feared this was going to be just like the other on-line writing schools where I’d get very little input or only positive input from the instructor. But, that wasn’t so at all. This class is worth every penny I paid for my tuition. Roseanne really knows her stuff and she delivers more than promised. Her lessons are simple, to the point and easy to understand. Her assignments are challenging enough without being overwhelming. Then comes the part that really pushed me over my skepticism, Roseanne is very attentive and gives one-on-one mentoring just like having my own personal trainer. She doesn’t just critique the topic she is teaching but she critiqued all areas of my writing - bringing to my attention my weak areas that I have been neglecting. She is always quick with responses and is generous in encouragement, suggestions and answering my questions thoroughly. Roseanne loves what she does and it shows. Roseanne is an awesome mentor. SHOW, DON’T TELL delivered as promised. I have a much better understanding of showing versus telling. Roseanne, as a writing mentor is exactly what a new writer dreams of having."

PITCH PERFECT with Janet Wellington

I am taking Janet Wellington's "Pitch Perfect" class and loving it. She delivers oodles of necessary information and communicates well with her students. I highly recommend this class and teacher!      - Boise, Idaho

SHOW DON'T TELL with Rosanne Dowell

I'm taking the "Show, Don't Tell" class. I love it and know it will be very beneficial for me. I do plan to take more classes. The class is great. Roseanne is knowledgeable and very supportive. She gives great feedback.

FINE TUNING THE SENSES with Jane Bernard

In a way I regret taking the 5-hour Fine Tuning workshop instead of the 6-week workshop because I loved the time I spent with Jane so much. I wish it didn’t have to end so soon. However, in defense of the 5-hour workshop, it was worth every penny of my tuition. It was intense, challenging and much more hands on then I expected, but that’s how we learn. It was definitely better than attending a live workshop with a room full of other students. Jane had me write a bio before class began and she customized her lessons to fit my needs. She provided guidance and nudged me to search within myself. Her exercises were great in unlocking the labyrinth of my subconscious. Jane’s guidance revealed a few strengths I had that I didn’t even know were there. She’s a fantastic mentor who is inspiring and encouraging. She provided honest feedback and great suggestions for improvement. She tied everything together beautifully. It was time and money well spent. I’m really glad I took her workshop.

WRITING FICTION EXPRESS with Lea Schizas:

“I've taken a number of online writing classes and for the most part, they've been beneficial.  However, the fact that this class was small, we had nearly one-on-one mentoring from Lea.(I suspect she'd do this if it were a large writing class) . She was honest in her feedback, pointing out strength and weaknesses in our writing, and willingly shared information, knowledge, and her own writing experiences. She made the classroom environment comfortable and personal. You've got a great teacher on staff.  Keep her.”

ARE YOU LAUGHING AT ME? with Jennifer Brown

“Jennifer has a keen editing eye and made a number of helpful suggestions that improved my writing.  In addition, the exercises and tips she gave were well-designed and appropriate to the writing topics that we were covering.”

WRITING FICTION EXPRESS with Lea Schizas

I was very impressed with this writing class.  Lea's advice was concise and helpful.  She gave honest, constructive criticism in an encouraging way.  Particularly amazing to me was her ability to give help across various genres. Only complaint:  the writing class was too short!

PITCH PERFECT with Janet Wellington

“Janet Wellington was an absolutely wonderful writing instructor. She was so unbelievably helpful to me in really focusing in on what I wanted to say about my novel and my characters. She helped show me where I needed to fine tune my plot and what I needed to emphasis. I feel much better prepared to go out and have a successful interview.”

YOU, ME AND POETRY with Floriana Hall

"I filled out an evaluation last week on this writing class, thinking because it's an extended class and I'm in the first month, that perhaps there's not enough time to evaluate it appropriately.  However, I do need to let you know how helpful Floriana has been to me.  I am a novice at poetry and she has gone above and beyond to communicate personally with me through nearly daily emails, without charging a mentoring fee.  This is such a help. Our class is small and the student interaction is low.  Floriana has offered encouragement and suggestions through email correspondence.  I don't know about the other students, but I have certainly taken advantage of her helpful offers.  One suggestion I might offer is giving a bit more work inside the classroom.  Most students don't want extra work, but I think we would benefit from the challenge."

THE FLASH FICTION WORKOUT with Jennifer Mills Kerr

"I really enjoyed Flash Fiction Workout.  Jennifer gave me great feedback, and I believe that I can revise all of the stories I wrote for submission.  I will probably submit some of them to Long Story Short!   I learned a lot and I'm very happy I took the writing course."

THE REEL DEAL with Betty Jo Tucker

"I had so much fun with The Reel Deel. Thewriting  lessons were varied, never boring and helped me to look at movies in a different way. Betty Jo was awsome and I can only hope that she'll teach again. I'll take any course she offers!  Only complaint:  The class too short! "

WRITE ON!  REWRITING YOUR OWN WORK with Jan Bernard

"I found Jane Bernard to be a very dedicated and caring instructor.  I got great feedback and would definitely take another writing course!"

SHOW DON'T TELL with Rosanne Dowell

"Roseanne was extremely knowlegable and provided very specific feedback which was very helpful. I got great feedback, the lessons were clear and my writing definitely improved."

YOU, ME AND POETRY with Floriana Hall

"Floriana has sent me numerous personal emails, encouraging my poetry writing and sharing her personal style and tips that she has learned.  This gives her high marks from me.    Poetry is new to me, so I've already learned several important aspects of poetry and am looking forward to more."

JOURNALING - THE "WRITE" WAY TO A BETTER LIFE with Erica Miner

"Erica, I've really enjoyed this writing class.  You made it very challenging for me, and managed to pull a lot out of me... the workshop was well worth it.m Thanks."

TURNING IDEAS INTO FICTION with Roseanne Dowell

"These were the most productive consecutive four weeks I've spent in my writing life. I felt like a real writer cranking out a new story each week. Roseanne leaves no room for the being block excuse. She provides a wealth of wonderful thought-provoking suggestions on where we could find ideas in ordinary everyday life followed by great examples of how to apply these ideas in a variety of genres. Every week I looked forward to learning more from her lessons, practicing what I learned by doing her fun assignments, and most of all I looked forward to her revealing critiques. I've learned so much from this valuable mentor. I dreaded seeing our time together come to an end. This writing class was totally satisfying and worth the money and time I spent on it."
